Birth Support

  • Prenatal Meetings

    • One free, 15-minute virtual consultation to get to know more about one another and see if we're a good match

    • 2-3 prenatal meetings (including one in-home visit) to discuss your birth preferences and support needs in detail, practice hands-on comfort measures, review birth and postpartum preparations, and address your questions and concerns

    • Partners are encouraged to participate in meetings so we can get comfortable working as a team - partners have a uniquely valuable role in the birth space, so I support them in being as comfortable and involved as possible

  • Education

    • A portion of our prenatal meetings will be spent reviewing what you already know about the birthing process, sharing any relevant information, and discussing any questions and concerns you may have

    • Evidence-based educational materials will be provided as resources to assist with empowered decision making

    • Assistance with creating a birth preferences form to help communicate your individual needs and desires to your care team

    • Access to my referral list which includes bodyworkers, infant feeding experts, mental health professionals, placenta services, childbirth and lactation classes, and more

  • Emotional Support

    • Assistance with creating an environment where the birthing person is placed at the center of care and supported in making informed decisions for themself and their baby

    • Support in communicating your needs and desires to your healthcare providers, advocating for you as needed, without making decisions for you or speaking on your behalf

    • Support with fostering an atmosphere of relaxation and minimal interruptions, to allow the labor hormones to flow freely - in turn, this can help the birthing person feel safe, allowing the birth to progress normally

    • Reassurance and encouragement, for both the birthing person and their partner, to support a positive birth experience

  • Physical Comfort

    • I offer a variety of techniques which can be used to provide relief and minimize discomfort in labor, including:

    • massage

    • counter pressure

    • acupressure

    • aromatherapy

    • supportive positioning & gentle stretches

    • hydrotherapy, and more…

(these techniques can be used in place of, or in addition to, medications in labor)

    • Assistance with nourishment, hydration, and rest, to help the birthing person and their partner remain grounded and sustain their energy levels

  • Postpartum Support

    • A portion of our prenatal meetings will be spent preparing for postpartum - we will discuss ways to prepare your home, mind, and body for the sacred transition ahead

    • Following the birth, I will remain with you for up to 2 hours to help you settle in with your new baby and offer basic breastfeeding support, if desired

    • One postpartum visit (typically in-home), within 1-2 weeks of birth, to offer emotional support and birth processing, assess your current needs, and share additional resources/referrals, as needed

  • Availability

    • Daytime phone and email support all throughout pregnancy

    • On-call availability, 24/7, beginning at 37 weeks of pregnancy up until 2 hours after birth

    • Frequent phone check-ins throughout the first couple of weeks postpartum
