Jenni Coker (she/her) is a DONA International trained Birth Doula and mother in Orange County, California, with a passion for holistic care. Her love for and interest in birth began in childhood, but it was her own pregnancy and birth in 2015 that really ignited her passion for birth-work.
Like many expectant parents, she was eager to learn as much as she could about pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting. She researched tirelessly, educating herself on her options regarding pregnancy and birth. She connected with a care-provider who offered her tremendous support and peace of mind.
She and her husband participated in a 12-week Childbirth Education class, in which they learned about the stages of birth, labor-coping techniques, risks and benefits of standard procedures, prenatal nutrition and exercise, positions for labor and delivery, comfort measures, partner support, and more. Jenni also took courses on breastfeeding and newborn care.
At the recommendation of her midwife, Jenni and her husband hired a doula, who quickly became a very important member of their birth team. She encouraged and reassured them throughout the entire process, while providing valuable resources for decision-making. During the birth, they relied heavily on her emotional and physical support and calming presence. In the early postpartum phase, she continued to provide crucial support while they navigated the often challenging transition into parenthood. They truly believe she was an integral part of their positive birth experience.
Jenni feels that the type of care and support she received should be available to all birth-givers and their families. She recognizes pregnancy and birth as a deeply intimate, life-altering experience and the birthing parent as powerful, intuitive, and capable. She is passionate about providing educational, emotional, and physical support to empower families to have the type of birth they desire.
Sarah Smith (she/her) is a DONA International trained Postpartum Doula who resides in Orange County, CA. It was after the birth of her son in 2018 that she realized how many families lack the support they desperately need during the postpartum period. It was then that she developed a passion for meeting the needs of families at the earliest stage of parenthood. It is a deep belief of hers that every family deserves to have a good start, and that with proper support and education, every family can thrive.
Over the last 10 years she has been meeting the needs of families through her work as a nanny. She has a passion for education, conscious & gentle parenting, holistic living, and community support. Over her years devoted to caring for families, she has become a firm believer that not every family has the same needs, and there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to any aspect of parenting.
Sarah believes that with the support of a postpartum doula, through education and empowerment, every family can learn to trust their instincts and make the best choices for their families. She is excited to meet with you and be a part of your sacred journey.
